Haha... before you think about moving to Woodside Village, you should ask me about Woodside Village.
ReplyDelete-ask TBF about Woodside Village
Liz used to live in Woodside village with her Dad, Sister and Brother before I married her.
-ask TBF opinion of Woodside Village
No parking, if you park illeagally, you'll get towed, it has happened to me not less then 3 times. {TBF looks agitated} besides that, there is an active crimal element to Woodside Village.
-ask TBF criminal element
You don't want to know
-tell TBF I wanna know
Buy an Inquireer, page 14 is freserved for Woodside Village info.
-beg TBF to tell
If you live there you are pretty safe, or at least Liz and Eileen never had anything to worry about. Due to Eileen's job and hobby, we had a constant flow of riflery and sidearms in and out of the condo. Not to forget Liz's brother Mike collected daggers and swords. So the local element had a mutual respect/halo of protection for the "white girls with guns".
Besides that Woodside Village is JUST outside Costa Mesa, putting it in Santa Ana, making it a lesser Bario of SA while it could have almost held its own in CM.
If you want a flavor of how much drug trafficing goes through Woodside Village, go to Sunflower and Parallel park at night. There is a large number of "blinged out" Caddy SUVs rolling in and out of the complex... All night long.
You know when to avoid an area or situation by how many "lookouts" are posted at the walkway intersections of the complex. If you know how to whistle, I can teach you a series of tones that will make all of them run and hide. hehe I wouldn't recomend sending up false alarms though.
379k is a joke for that place. Definately not worth it. Roll again.
~The Blue Fox
Damn hiccups! *grumble*
ReplyDelete(And thanks for the headsup on the Woodside Village, Blue Fox. Since we were there during the day, we were unware of the situation. But, that aside, the prices and aweful state of the condos scared us off anyhoo.)
~RlrlrlRLRLLRLGRLGRLGlglglglgl!~
Joe, you should seriously think about taking up humor writing. You have a real gift! Your account of condo shopping was hilarious -- especially for anyone who ever played Adventure!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, what happened to the bit at the top? Last night it spelled out "Condo Shopping" but now it's just +'s and -'s.
A friend of ours used to be a Sheriff's Deputy. He could tell you exactly where the drug/crime neighborhoods were anywhere in a 5-city area (and we're talking upscale neighborhoods). It would be useful to know some law enforcement types who could fill you in on the inside dope on a neighborhood. Blue Fox, do you know anyone?
I just widened the window and figured out the heading on your post. Duh!
ReplyDeleteThe crime area for any city is where affordable housing is! :P That was an easy question. Not many people who actually own *cheap* condos actually live in them, they are really just fronts for people who lease out the unit to renters.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a rather upscale area to get away from grungy tenants. But then again, high scale crime is in those areas, after all you have to afford your lifestlye somehow.
HEY! What happened to all the nifty letters making out the word "Condo Shopper"??
ReplyDelete~RlrlrlRLRLLRLGRLGRLGlglglglgl!~
Yeah, I edited the post. A few times. Quite a few times. This has to hold the record as the most-edited F.U. News post.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, when I was looking at the header this morning, I decided it would look cooler if the ASCII Art was made of - and + instead of the actual letters. Of course, this is entirely dependent on your screen being wide enough.
I should also point out that much of this account is fictionalized. The true parts are: we looked at expensive condos in Woodside Village (the prices are real); Rie got hiccups; they were cured with a Sierra Mist.
The kitchen of the first condo was not on fire (but the rest of the description is fairly accurate). Also, we encountered far fewer angry trolls, goblins, and hobgoblins (but we did run into a gnome that spoke only Spanish).
Oh, and Mom, I've tried humor writing (well, at lot on this blog), but what usually happens is I get some good idea, then can't figure out what to do with it and my attempts at humor tend to fall on their faces. This post is a rare gem amongst a sea of mediocrity.
"The crime area for any city is where affordable housing is!"
ReplyDeleteThat implies that only poor people become criminals.
"It takes a rather upscale area to get away from grungy tenants. But then again, high scale crime is in those areas, after all you have to afford your lifestlye somehow."
That implies rich people are criminals.
So everybody's a criminal?
Crime has nothing to do with having or not having wealth. It has everything to do with not having morals. There are immoral people in every economic stratum. It's helpful to know where they live so you can avoid living next door to them.
"That implies that only poor people become criminals."
ReplyDeleteNo it implies criminals are often poor people. Much like "homelesss are often drug addicts" and "aids is a gay disease" --not that the disease is gay, but if you are in a situation with a bleeding gay person, wear latex gloves and don't touch if you have any open wounds. or else you may get "the aids".
If I'm a cop and I want to arrest someone, go to a low income area, the criminal of lesser intelligence steals from other low income people. Its a fact. At least recovering the stolen property just has to be returned across the complex.
"That implies rich people are criminals."
No, it implies good criminals are successful at what they do. I have known them too. At a street value of $100,000 for one kilo of pure cocaine and a labor and material cost of $1000 to purchase from the producer, somewhere someone is getting really rich and you would be surprised how many of them live in "nice" neighborhoods. Well, them and seedy lawyers, I put seedy lawyers with drug trafficers any day.
"So everybody's a criminal?"
No, but if you stop any person on the street and you ask them if they would do something if they know they wouldn't be caught, you would be shocked to find out how many people are willing to be criminals.
"Crime has nothing to do with having or not having wealth. It has everything to do with not having morals. There are immoral people in every economic stratum. It's helpful to know where they live so you can avoid living next door to them."
Or at least live next to those who don't threaten your life or own morals. I like where I live. I try to keep tabs on the various types of crime in the area. In my area, I mostly have drug users and drug trafficers. The trafficers belong to various "white gangs" such as the "Hell's Angels", "Nazi Low Riders" and the "Peckerwoods" to name a few active SoCal "white" prison gangs.
Almost every place has its "rough" component. If you live in Rancho Pales Verdes, you live in an area controled by the various familiies of the "italian mafia" as the "rich" criminals controling the port and various lower level mexican mafia in the streets. Or have you not noticed that EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK has a funeral at Mary Star? The stories about there make my neighborhood a safe place to live.
I will admit, I'm jaded. I look everywhere I go for crime. Even last week I saw a girl with a multiple KKK tattoos. But I would rather know who I have to be worried about then to constantly be guessing whether or not I should be worried.
Mary Star of the Sea parish in San Pedro has about 5000 registered families, making it twice as large as the average parish. There are a lot of old people in the parish, so there are a lot of funerals.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I had another friend who joined the Sheriff's Department in Los Angeles. I noticed that after a while, he became very cynical. It's an occupational hazard, I suppose. Dealing with lawbreakers all the time gave him a distorted view of people. Believing everyone is a crook isn't any more true than believing everyone is a saint.
No, not cynical, honest. Once trained to know what to look for, you see it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is even funnier, is they feel drawn to you to share stories. Last weekend, a ended up in a conversation with a person who told me a long story of some drugs that were accidently stolen and sold for less then they are worth, and the guy who stole them to begin with is upset that he didn't charge enough and now wants more money?!?!?!?!?!?
WHAT THE HECK!? I'm just sitting in my garage wrenching away and people apporch me and tell me these things!! So yes. Everyone is a criminal-- so watch your back.
--oh, names places and whatnot from that little "story told to me bit" have been omitted to protect the guilty. However, I will say all of them were people I did not suspect(but not surprised) to be involved with those types of activities.
ReplyDelete"Believing everyone is a crook isn't any more true than believing everyone is a saint" -- I like that cause I keep getting labeled "niave" (or visene for those of us who are lisdexic) just cause I like to think better of people till I have definite proof to the contrary. Anyhow, as long as we are making broad generalizations, here's one that is AT LEAST 99% accurate: every marine wants to sleep with your daughter, and only 1 wants to marry her (and that one is already married). Sorry, but life is safer if you approach every marine from taht perspective.
ReplyDelete(almost home!)
What cynics you all are!
ReplyDeleteIf I weren't a cynic, I probably would have been mugged or shot by now.
ReplyDelete
